Boat Assisted Kayaking, Chokoloskee, Fl
Experience ID: 414
The Boat Assisted Kayak Eco Adventure combines the best of a boat adventure, a kayak adventure and a walking adventure. Using a dedicated kayak transport boat you are comfortably and safely transported to some of the most beautiful and remote areas of the Park, yet you will still be back in time for lunch, dinner or another excursion.
During this adventure, expect to encounter a wide variety of the Everglade's wildlife. Imagine paddling next to a manatee or a dolphin! Transport boat nestles six very stable kayaks in her bow and provides comfortable captains-style seating for maximum of six guests. With full safety equipment, satellite communications, a GPS tracking system, large sunshade and a cooler for drinks, your guide will bring you deep into the Park in safety and comfort.
Once you reach one of the many destinations, the expedition will "slow down" and turn into a "hands-on" eco-experience. Very stable, comfortable kayaks are used to get participants close to the flora and fauna … closer than by any other means. The experience continues with a walking excursion on pristine barrier island beach. After the beach trek, participants are back in the kayaks to paddle back to the boat for the ride home and if they wish in time for a seafood dinner at a local restaurant. Be sure to bring your camera!

Do I need previews Kayaking experience to participate in this adventure?
Not to worry, no previous kayaking experience is required and you won't paddle fast or far. Instructors will be give instructions on how to manouvuer the kayak.
What do I Need to Bring?
Please bring whatever you wish to eat or drink. We do suggest plenty of water, but please adhere to our "Leave No Trace" policy. Clothing should be appropriate for the season and the day's weather. The transport boat is open and we travel swiftly. A light jacket is needed on most trips. Sun protection is always a good idea ...hats, sun block, etc. Along the beaches, you may wish to get out of the kayaks and walk in the water or take a bit of time on the beach by yourself. Protective footwear, that you do not mind getting wet, is a good recommendation. Bring a camera (in a plastic zip lock bag if it is not waterproof).
How long are the boat assisted trips?
The total experience is 3 1/2 hours but we request that you allow 4 hours of your day. There is a 1/2 to3/4 hour interpretive boat ride each way; the paddling part of the trip is about 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours. If you do a beach walk, the paddle time is broken up with the walk and you sometimes do not paddle as long. Many say the boat trip alone is "worth the price of admission". These trips are not canned, so the times can vary depending on the day. If you have a time constraint, please let us know at the beginning of the experience.
Are the kayaks stable?
Yes, very much so, and they are very easy to paddle. Many actually use the kayaks as fishing platforms and some fishermen even standup to fish while in the kayaks.
