Paddleboarding Adventure, Wilton Manors, FL
Experience ID: 420
If this is your first time trying out Stand up Paddleboarding or you have experience then come along on this trip, great fun for you and the family. This urban venture takes you on an epic journey down the splendid Fort Lauderdale’s middle river. You get an enlightening cultural tour seeing both sides of the native and non-native residents. While you are paddling through the thick of things in the middle of the town you are surrounded by magnificent scenery. Aquatic wildlife is well represented, presenting many opportunities to see them in their natural habitat.
You start at the historic Richardson Park in Wilton Manors, located on the Middle River. This is a navigable waterway, but has very little boat traffic. It is tidal, but because of it’s distance from the ocean inlets, it remains for the most part, unaffected by strong currents. With trees and homes on both sides, there is plenty to see, and you are protected from the wind. The waters are too salty for alligators, and too busy for crocodiles, so you have nothing to worry about. The river is loaded with numerous fishes, birds, crabs, and even the occasional manatee who like to interact with humans.
